You don’t get charged until the product ships though, usually a day or two prior to shipping.

How do I know if my Amazon order went through?
Go to Amazon Pay, click Shoppers, and then sign in using your Amazon credentials. Tip If you don’t see your transaction, try clicking Review more Amazon Pay orders under Can’t find an order?, or check your orders in your Amazon.com account by clicking See your Amazon.com orders.
Does Amazon charge to ship items?
Amazon has secured an authorization for a charge on the buyer’s credit card, but Amazon won’t actually charge the card until you mark the order shipped.
Do Amazon take money straight away on pre orders?
Your payment will be taken at the time of dispatch. For all pre-orders more than 5 days from release your payment will be taken 5 days after placing the pre-order. Price guarantee still stands, if the pre-order drops in price between placing the order and dispatch you will receive a refund of the price difference.

If you don’t receive your order and want to dispute the charge on your card, you should write to your credit card company. You can find the address on your statement.
