Cancelling your card
Unfortunately if you’ve cancelled your card, this won’t necessarily stop the CPA being taken from your account and you can still be charged.
The only way to cancel a recurring payment is to contact the company or your account provider and state that you wish to stop it.
How do I cancel a recurring payment on my debit card?
To withdraw consent, simply tell whoever issued your card (the bank, building society or credit card company) that you don’t want the payment to be made. You can tell the card issuer by phone, email or letter. Your card issuer has no right to insist that you ask the company taking the payment first.
Can a Cancelled debit card still be charged?
If my debit card is canceled, can a company with my card on file still charge me? If they try to charge anything to your card after it is canceled, the charge will be declined by the bank. Your new card will have a new number & expiration date & the old card will be completely invalid.
Can you stop a automatic debit?
Even if you have not revoked your authorization with the company, you can stop an automatic payment from being charged to your account by giving your bank a “stop payment order.” To stop the next scheduled payment, give your bank the stop payment order at least three business days before the payment is scheduled.
